Storage for Beaded Dolls

Hi Guys:

Another beautiful sunny day in Prescott, in the 80's, no wind and were loving this gorgeous weather.

Some of my friends on my Beaded Art Dolls group on Yahoo wanted to see how I store my dolls.
So, here are a couple pictures. As you see some of my dolls are laying down, have to find more stands for them. I"m not really happy with this set up but its all I have right now. Maybe someday I can find something different.

Okay guys, many of you have asked me to post pictures of this pattern that I have been doing all summer, I have five made now! Trying to use all my Rayon yarn up by making these, they are so easy and you would love to do this pattern if your a knitter.

And the heat has finally broken here, its been such a Hot summer here, very much unlike it should be here, usually in the 90's but we have been in the l00's for days and days. Now were in the 70's this week and all the doors and windows are open. Its so nice to sleep at night under two quilts with the slider open!

Well summer is still here in Prescott, Arizona. It has been hot, hot, and very humid the whole summer, many many days over l00 and not much time spent on my deck this year, only in the early mornings and you all know I'm not a early person! VBG

Life goes on and I have decided to try and sell my house and move to something smaller, I hope this is the right decision, right or wrong, I'm carrying on with the sale and see how it goes. So far, I have had a lot of traffic but no offers.
I plan to stay in the Prescott area only in a much smaller place.

Here is a new creation by me, my own original design of my interpretation of a Goddess of the Forest. I drew her on paper and sent to to our doll maker in Prescott Valley, Ronda Kivett, she made the tree for me many years ago and I finally got her done, she is partially beaded and I like her that way. She was great fun to work on and I love her, I hope you do too. All hand beaded, sequins, various stones and a hot sun on her back for the hot summer we have had here!

Great Gdaughter Allison visit

Well here we have my sweet GGD Allison, it was her first visit to meet Grandma and her Mommy Jessica too which is my g/sons Dannys wife.

When I found out they were coming to visit Grandma of course she had to have her first sweater from her Grandmother. She will have to grow into it but I think she liked it. It was fun to make and it was l00% cotton yarn and a very easy pattern.

It was wonderful to have all of them here with me for l0 days, just so wonderful to not be alone and have family here with me. I hope they will return to visit again very, very soon.

Lace Shawl

Here is a knitted Lace Shawl from a class at the Sedona Knit shop, different colors but I can wear it with a lot of things. It was hard at first to follow a chart but after I got into it it was pretty easy.

Alicia's sweater

Well where has the time gone. We have enjoyed a wonderful summer this year, the monsoons are here right now and its hot, hot and very humid but they will be gone in a couple week's and the rest of the summer should be wonderful here. One thing, my flowers sure love the humid hot weather, they are growing leaps and leaps!

Just finished a wonderful visit with my daughter and her sweet Alicia. I thought you all would enjoy seeing the sweater I made for her. She adored it and just loves everything Grandma makes for her, she is just too precious for words, age 5 this year!

I continue to do good with my recovery and still have not returned to Curves, I hope to do it this week, you know how hard it is to go back once you have left for sometime. But, must be done.

Hope you all are having a good summer too.

Kim's Comfort Quilt and THANK YOU to my Friends

And I was sooooooooo surprised at this beautiful quilt my quilter friend Kim gave me as a present in the Nursing home for my recovery. I put it on my bed right then and just loved it, filled with love and prayers for a good recovery. Isn't she too sweet, thanks so much Kim Haugen, Prescott, Arizona. Now I use it all the time at home on chilly nights in my recliner.

And a BIG THANK you to all my other friends who sent cards and gave me gifts, calls, flowers etc and to all my wonderful neighbors who have brought me food and to Tom who brought me home from the Nursing HOme and is always there to help me out whenever I need him or Karen. Without all of you I couldn't have gotten thru this surgery as well as I did.

Thank you, thank you, thank you sincerely.

Cool Summer nights

Well I think Spring is finally here this week. Its been a cold, cold winter/spring here, very unusual for this part of the good old U.S.A.

Update on surgery, it went very very well and I'm very lucky, "Clarissa" will now be good for another 20 years, I sure hope they are right. It was a hard time coming alone and going thru all this alone without my sweetie, how I still miss him every, every day. sighhhhhhhh. I had Home Health Care in to help me, nurses, physical therapist, and CNA's, they all were truly wonderful, unlike the Nursing home I had to go to for rehab upon immediate release from the hospital. I'm sooooooooo glad that part of my life is over with, thank the Lord.

I continue to recover nicely at home and doing my physical therapy everyday at home, 4 times a day, I"m coming along just fine, very anxious to get out of here, but it will come in time.
And I continue on knitting and beading away waiting to heal and waiting for warmer weather to come to Prescott. Here is a Mermaid that I started down in Carefree in the winter, finally got her finished late winter here and early spring, she was a joy to work on and I'm glad she is done. I haven't found the 'right' place for her yet in our home, still looking. I hope you like her too.

Well I'm HOME safe and sound and had a great time in Carefree, it was truly the most beautiful place to have a long vacation.

Prescott is still covered in snow and I'm getting settled back into the routine of 'real life' in Prescott and getting ready for my upcoming surgery stay.

Here's another Bead Embroidery piece I did in Carefree. The center is a beautiful button I bought at the Yarn shop in Flagstaff, I just loved it and knew I would use it in a Bead Embroidery piece. The colors and pink's and blacks. Hope you like it too.

Well where has all the time gone! The Holidays have come and gone and all the kids were home for Holidays and now gone home to their own lifes.

I started the New Year by being a Snow BIRD in Phoenix, so here we are for two months enjoying the warmer weather. Our beautiful Prescott, is covered with snow and I"m glad to be here.

I"m working out 3 times a week at a local pool in Scottsdale in preparation for hip replacement in late March, yup, "Clarissa" needs a new part, how could she fail me! ugh

Here is a new Bead Embroidery piece for the new year. It was an old Sailboat pin I have always loved and didn't wear too many times, why, I don't know, I do love it, so I made it into a Beaded Embroidery necklace. It took over a month to complete and I adore the Bead Embroidery part the best! Hope you like it too.

She will just love it. She is always asking Grandma what she is making for her.
Its a size 8 and it took months and months to make. I'm really not that fast with my knitting....I'm sure she will love it.

Well we knee deep in the Holiday season here in Prescott. We even had a bad, bad winter storm, thank goodness its over with now. Lots of damages with big time winds, snow, rain, hail,you name it, we had it.

Kids are both coming for Christmas, one from Milwaukee and other from Phoenix. All the presents are wrapped and under the tree and I"m ready for the Holidays to begin.

Happy Fall and Halloween

Well where has the time gone. Can't believe its been over a month since I have posted.

Lots of beading and knitting going on here as usual. I also was gone to my son's in Phoenix for l0 days for my Birthday. I just didn't want to be alone for that, my first LAST without my sweetie.
Ed's sister is coming this Thursday from South Dakota during the Anniversary of his passing, it sure doesn't feel like a whole year to me. I still expect him to come in the kitchen door. sigh

Just wanted to wish you all a wonderful fall and a Happy Halloween to you all. We don't get the kids in this subdivision and I miss that. Ed and I always enjoyed seeing the kids all dressed up, it was such good fun.

Soon winter will be here and I hate to loose all my flowers. I did bring in a ton to save in my kitchen and I tell you it looks like a Nursery in the kitchen! Its so good to have a happy face when you walk in the kitchen and start your day. My flower's make me happy.

Newest Felted Purse

Well here are the last two felted purses for this year.
It was great fun and its time to start working on my Christmas presents for family members.

I've worked on the Asian ladies and these felted purses most of this very hot summer in Prescott.

Summer is done and Fall is coming shortly. You wouldn't know it from the weather, we still are into the Monsoon's and hot and humid weather.

Fall will bring transplanting some flowers and bringing them indoor's to keep them for the next year...I sure hate to loose my flowers, they are so wonderful to enjoy. But I do have more time to enjoy them, even until late November. At least we know, another season of wonderful flowers will come.

Asian Beaded Lady II

Here is my Asian Lady II. I had a big problem with her, I didnt consider the l/4 inch edge on the frame. Shame on E/less! So had to take a lot of bigger beads out and just made it all look like the background. Live and learn! You'd think I have learned by now! LOL

Here is a framed picture of an all hand beaded Asian Lady. I've been working on her for weeks and weeks and weeks. She was hard for me to work on because she was done in a limited amounts of colors. Many of you know I'm all about color. But I thought it would be fun to do something that I haven't done before. A good learning experience.

I think she is very pretty and hope you do too. She was fun to work on for sure.

And here in Prescott we have had a very very hot and humid summer. The hot weather even cracked a window in our bedroom and had to be replaced, now that is HOT! And very unlike living here two hours north of Phoenix.

Finally it has cooled off somewhat this week and I'm more than happy to have the windows and door's open. How I love the fresh air.

I continue to work on the beading and my knitting projects and working out 3 times a week.
Life goes on, although, its very lonesome without my sweetie.

I'm working on more creations and will be posted soon. Thanks to all of you to keep posting what I"m doing here in Prescott.

Miss Chocolate

Well another round robin doll, Miss Chocolate, came home to me dripping in chocolates!

The swirls of cream chocolates on her body, the cinnamon chocolates hair, the white chocolates,and chocolate covered cherries makes her quit the Chocolate Diva.

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much to the ladies that worked on this round robin. Those Artists were Carol DeLater. Indiana, Ann Hoke, Oregon, Jerry Lance, Oregon, Velia Antila, California and Gale Michel, New Mexico. Everyone truly did an outstanding job with their beading talents.

Fall Sweater

Well as promised, here is my new Fall Sweater.

Its pretty busy to say the least. I thought the brown wool variegated on the top would calm all the fall colors down. Well, as this pictures shows, it just make it busier. In person, you really cant see the design as bad as in the picture!

Don't we all learn with every experience.

I'll wear it this fall, and yes, its quit warm. And thank you Kathy once again for all your help with this creation.

Hand knitted sweater

Well my TWO YEAR project is finally done...
Its an all scrap yarn sweater for me, yes, all scraps, just take a couple yards of each color and weights and tie them together and make balls of yarn. I love the look.

One problem,,all the different weights made the pattern way off and had to cut it all and prepare the sweater same way you would put a jacket together. My dear friend Marsha helped me out at first, then she left town for awhile, and then this lovely lady at Cupper's coffeehouse where we met each Monday helped me put it all together.

And again, thank you so much Marcia and Kathy. Now I'm more comfortable with cutting my sweater when needed! A scary thing for sure...ugh!

I might make one for my g/daughter someday, maybe! Right now I"m knitted out!
Although I am making four knitted hats for Cancer patients. I want to get those done next as I promised I would do them.

I have a fall sweater that Kathy is sewing together right now and its about the same style as this blue one, maybe a little different in style though, but in fall colors. That will be posted very soon.

Hope you like it and it was sooooooooooo fun to make, I loved the process.

Arizona Round Robin Doll

Here is Little Miss Blue Bell, she just arrived home all completed by such talented beaders who live right here in Arizona. Isn't she just beautiful and she shines and sparkles and will be joining all my other dolls that have been around the world.

Purple Crystal Necklace

Here is a beautiful crystal necklace with some drop beads.
Wish I could have gotten a better picture of the shimmer of the crystals.
I first saw this necklace on the Beadworks class site in Dallas, the teacher Marci was very very nice to me and taught me the class on line.

It was great fun and Marci made it very easy for me to do this piece, thank you Marci.

The Monsoons are here in Prescott so its hot and humid and many, many storms.

Well it's been sometime since I have posted here.
Been very very busy with lots of legal issues to take care of.
I really can see the light at the end of the tunnel though. I"m almost done.
Then maybe I"ll have more time to create.

I'm still going out and doing pretty good I would say. Lots of beading and knitting groups to keep me busy and company at our home too. They just keep on coming which I love.

Here is a free form piece I have been work on for some time. Just framed it and its done for the sale I'm in in November. Hopefully, someone else will love it too and want to take it home for their very own. Hope you like it too.

Free Form Necklace

Well its already mid May, the time goes so fast and there is so much to do everyday with my sweetie gone.......Miss him more and more.

Here is a UFO finally done and it's to be worn at the neck line, all in blacks and coopers, my favorite form of beading. Hope you like it as much as I do.

Someone wanted me to part with it already, but not sure I want to do that, but we'll see.

Solange, my Southwest Queen is finally home. Our BAD group on Yahoo had a Seasonal Round Robin and I designed this form for that challenge and asked for Summer and a Southwest theme. Actual doll sewn by Ronda Kivett.

This was the last doll that Ed saw me working on before it started on its way around the U.S.A, so it means the world to me. He so would have loved to see her come home, she is just so, so, beautiful.

She sits on my entry way table for all to see, she sure is a beauty.

I was working on this doll myself when Ronda Kivetts doll came to my house in the Arizona Round Robin. I can't remember who did the flowers on the bottom, but when I saw this, I just had to have something similar on this doll too. Ronda gave me permission to use it too for this doll although mine is a little different.

YOu all know how I love my flowers, so it was perfect for what I was beading at the time. The hair is very very full and took me over a week to do. I so love doing hair, I think that is my favorite part of the doll.

This is my completed Santa Doll that I send out last year in the Arizona Round Robin.

Form made by Ronda Kivett and face made by Maggie Walker from Canada. I just loved this Santa face and purchased it from her and of course Ronda loves to make forms so I never have a problem getting wonderful work from these girl's.

This week I got a GIFT PKG in the mail of this Brett Farve doll and cheese head. Can you even believe it, I about fainted when I opened the pkg and was crying and crying.

It was from a Arizona Round Robin we have here in Arizona, any resident of Arizona can play.

The girls who worked on this doll are: Sanda Gill of Payson, Joyce Holiman of Payson, Crystal Fox of Sun City, Julie Jones of Gilbert, Dian Moore of Prescott, Susan Feldkamp of Mesa. and Ronda Kivett, Prescott Valley.

And it was Susan's form and she gifted it to me. Now isn't she the best friend a girl could have. I still can't believe how gracious she is to give it to me. I can't thank you enough Susan, you are such a dear, dear person.

Beaded Rock

Finally, my beaded rock is done. If you remember, Ed gave me his sponge he washed his car with and I wrapped it in batting and muslin and started beading away. It wasn't the best form to bead on, too soft, but I managed to get around that and got it finished.

The writing is our favorite song, by Ann Murry, Can I have this dance for the rest of my Life.

Of course it means the world to me now.

Here is a picture of a poncho for my g/daughter in Milwaukee, she loved it. She's such a cutie, she loves all my knitted gifts for her and tell's everyone her Grandma made it for her.

It fit her perfect too.

I"m still knee deep into my knitting too and joined a new group that meets at Cupper's coffee house here in Prescott on Monday afternoons. The girls are all so talented and great fun.

Bonnie's Birthday

Bonnie, Ed's sister from South Dakota was just here for almost two weeks. Here we are at Olive Garden for her Birthday lunch, her favorite place.

It was so fun to have her here. She helped me around the house with some things and had some good times/bad times too. She has been so supportive of me and the kids too during this difficult time and for her too. She called me every day for a long time, just so sweet to me.

She is a BIG TIME shopper and we shopped and ate and shopped and ate the whole time she was here. She is coming back on August, oh boyyyyyyyyyy,,,,,I have to save more pennys for then! She was a joy to have.

Ed would be so happy she came and that she is coming back. They are very much alike.

Well as many of you know, its been a ruff time around here without my 'sweetie'. I miss him more and more as each day goes on, the worse is over I guess, the shock and all. But all my family and friends say its time to move on and get on with life. So, in that vein, time to start posting to my blog again.

I do hope none of you have to loose your loved one's though, its very very hard to carry on, but we must.

My bulbs have been up for some time here in Prescott. Here is a shot of some on the front deck.

We have had a cold spring here so far, that's for sure. I just can't wait for it to warm up to play in the dirt. I know it will be so good for me and I enjoy my flower's so much.

DVD Player

Ed served as a board member on our Subdivision Association.

They made a wonderful donation of a DVD player to the Dialysis Center here in Prescott, Arizona.
They also purchased cards from Blockbusters for movie rental for the patients receiving dialysis at the center. Each patient has their own little TV to watch and will now be watching DVD movies in memory of Ed.

So what I'm doing now is trying to keep the DVD donations coming to my house so the patients will keep getting new movies in the future. I"ll take them down to the Dialysis center for the patients.

So if any of YOU have any DVD's you dont care to use anymore, would you please send them to my house for the dialysis patients?

You have my heartfelt gratitude for doing this for Ed and me. Thank you. thank you, thank you.

SAD NEWS

Well as many of you know I lost my sweetheart on October 28th, 2008.

Ed died in my arms from a blood clot, he went very quick and in no pain.

It really was such a shock to our family and friends because he really didn't die of any of his medical problems. I don't know how I'll get along without my 'BEST FRIEND". As I was his caretaker for six years, my life is very empty right now.

With the help of my family and friends I haven't been alone for much more than a couple days since this happened and I"m so happy for all of them and all their help. More company is coming mid January and then in the spring.

And I want to thank everyone for all the lovely emails, notes, cards, and loving concerns for our whole family during these most difficult times.

I"m having a wonderful time doing these round robins. Here is Karol Berzins from Fitchburg Ma. Fall doll. She wanted her to look like the fall colors of the East Coast.

I made stacks of beads representing leaves in reds, oranges and golds colors next to brown dirt. I started on the front of the doll and carried around to the back. She was great fun to work on.

Well we've been very busy with family coming and going for over two weeks now.

This was a present to our 3 yrs old G/daughter from Milwaukee. As all little girls these day's, she is into the Princess theme for her bedroom too. So of course Grandma had to make her a quilt for her room. Pieced by me and quilted by Gwen McNallan.

This doll belongs to Karol Berzins from Fitchburg Ma. She wanted her Season choice to be Fall. Since we lived on the East Coast before here, I know and saw lots of fall colors on the East Coast which were drop dead beautiful to say the least.

On this doll I tried to makes piles of red, orange and gold leaves stacked using the Boucle stitch against dark brown dirt, also done in l5's hex's. My favorite is l5's hex beads, very small but they look great and nice and neat looking.

I hope Karol likes what I did.

This is Nightbeaders who lives in Mesa's doll. Anyone that know's me knows I about 'flipped out' when I opened this round for this month and it was my Green Bay Packers doll! How can she expect me to forward! lol

The other Doll is her "A" Doll for Arizona, we were allowed to send two doll's on this round to each of the player's. It worked out fine with all of us.

On the BF Packer Doll I did the stack of green seed beads with gold tops on the bottom of the doll. Also, added medium sized beads around the stack, then did the Boucle stitch using l5 hex seed beads in greens and golds.

On the A Doll Nightbeader wanted Turquoise and Coral beading, so I did the Turquoise chips and filled in with l5's seed beads in Corals.

It was so fun for me to work on these dolls. Hope you enjoy them.

Thought you would like to see the last Beaded Black Quilt I made for our High Desert Bead Society here in Prescott. Many members made the blocks for five quilts and I put them together and Marcia Kearns quilted them for us. This is the last one left and I had to take a picture for something else so thought you would like to see it too. They were/are donated to charities in our community.

These squares are all hand beaded using seed beads and other objects.

Hope you enjoy the quilt.

We've had family non/stop for three weeks and were having a wonderful time visiting and taking them to cities around Prescott. They will all be gone soon and it will be very sad to see them go. Then it will be back to creating BIG TIME!

Well its been some time since I've posted. I really don't have any excuse, just life!

Here is a tree that belongs to Kathleen Chrisman from Mechanicsville, Va. I did the middle and the bottom of the tree trunk on both sides. It doesnt look like a lot but this is about 4 inches tall in beading. As tree's are my favorite in nature, this was a fun project to work on.

I'm also busy working on more round robin dolls, getting ready for once a year sale I"m in, and working on a quilt for my g/daughter who will be here in early October. So you might not see my things for awhile until I get some extra free time. Check back soon though, things change in my life daily!

Well it hasnt been a good week here.

One of my dear friends here is having major surgery and just found out.

I was working on this crazy quilt doll yesterday and thought maybe Peg would enjoy a Healing Doll. So here she is.....She was done yesterday and gone to her by 4pm. I hope she enjoys it and it helps her through yet another journey of life.

Funky Tree Doll Stand

Well look what I found the other day shopping, a wonderful Funky Tree Stand for my Free Form Doll who's name is Priscella. Its made of hard wire that is covered and has a little wire wrap that goes around her waist, not sure that show's in this pictures but its just perfect for her. So now she has a nice place in our home and I love her in it. She says she feels right at home in it too. VBG

New Stuffed Dolls

Well its been some time since I have had time to post but thought you would like to see yet another new project, like I need one!!!!!! LOL

These are my first attempt at making and stuffing my own doll forms for beading. My friend, Rhonda Kivett came and was gracious enough to show me how she makes her dolls and how hard to stuff them. Believe me, those are some hard stuffed forms, thanks so much Rhonda, your the best.

Well here is another UFO done. It was a tin of square by Moda and pieced and sewn and machine quilted by me. It was a nice and easy fast and fun project.

High Desert Bead Society Round Robin

The High Desert Bead Society is doing this round robin starting this Saturday at our meeting.
Six ladies will bead on her and then we'll put their names in a basket and drawing the winning name to win the doll completely hand beaded. It should be tons of fun.
